First Lesson

As promised I have stories.. After a week of waking up at 5AM and getting home between 4 and 9pm every night (can't forget I'm still a college student and have a MW 7-815 class) there were bound to be some ridiculous moments. I'm glad to say that after the first few days I stopped putting listerine in my coffee and proceeding to spill it down everything I was wearing. Now I've got it down to where it only hits the shirt or pants. In addition, what is now considered clown makeup is in fashion, or atleast the 5am version of me likes to think so. It's embarrasing to only notice this when you step in to the faculty break room to find a mirror. This really explains why teachers rarely wear makeup. .

The first day of school went well, I managed to cram 20 more names in to my brain and attach pictures of their cute little germ infested faces to boot! Teacher of the year? I think so!

On to my very first lesson of this experience..

My first lesson of teaching is not to open your mouth unless absolutely necessary. Many of you may believe I am talking about actually speaking but no, I"m talking breathing, sneezing, coughing, anything. I was the tale end of our classroom line admiring all of the student's work on the wall adjacent with my mouth open (don't judge me, I woke up at 5AM!) when all of the sudden I see him. A snuffling, snotty, runny little 5th grader openeing his mouth to what I can only imagine will be to coat the entire hallway with a hearty mixture of saliva and snot (it's what's for dinner). I kid you not, it was like slow-motion he opened his mouth and coughed almost directly in to my own. I could not believe it, for all of the hand sanitizer I used that day it was all for naught because some little booger had just hacked his bacteria in to my mouth. SO yes, the first lesson is always keep your mouth closed..

Keep checking in for more!
